Dalene is an experienced construction lawyer who advises owners, developers, contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other industry professionals on complex construction and project-related matters. Her practice combines construction litigation and dispute resolution with transactional and risk-management counseling, allowing her to assist clients with issues arising throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Dalene drafts and negotiates construction contracts and advises clients during project execution, helping them identify potential risks and develop practical strategies that account for project requirements, timelines, and business objectives. Her experience encompasses construction defects, contract disputes, premises liability matters, property damage claims, and other issues arising from commercial construction projects.

When disputes arise, Dalene represents clients in state and federal courts throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. She also advocates for clients in arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association, drawing on her construction industry experience to address complex contractual, technical, and project-related issues.

Dalene is also active in educating clients and construction professionals on risk management and emerging industry issues. She has authored articles and delivered webinars and presentations addressing delay claims, design contract negotiations, incorporation by reference provisions, project file management, and risks associated with construction administration services. Her work has included presentations for several chapters of the American Institute of Architects as well as client-specific programs.

Prior to joining Hirschler, Dalene was a partner at Asmar, Schor & McKenna and counsel at Lee/Shoemaker PLLC. She has been recognized by Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers for Construction Law since 2024, following recognition as a Rising Star in the field from 2019 through 2023.
