Vicky Petrone is a Partner in the Wilmington, Delaware office of Brockstedt Mandalas Federico LLC. Her practice is devoted exclusively to construction law, representing owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers in complex project planning and high-stakes disputes. With a background in both civil engineering and law, she brings unusual technical and practical insight to construction matters, helping clients translate project realities into effective legal strategies.
Before entering the legal profession, Vicky earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and spent seven years as a project manager for one of the nation’s largest construction management and general contracting firms. That experience gives her a firsthand understanding of drawings, schedules, cost controls, field operations, and the practical pressures that arise during major projects. She applies that knowledge when advising clients on contracts, project execution, claims, and disputes.
Vicky’s practice spans the full lifecycle of construction projects. She assists with corporate formation, contract drafting, review and negotiation, and advises on construction defects, payment claims, mechanic’s liens, public bidding, prevailing wage compliance, surety and bond claims, delay and scheduling disputes, employment issues, and insurance coverage. She represents clients in state and federal courts and in private arbitration and mediation, including proceedings before the American Arbitration Association.
In addition to serving as an advocate, Vicky is an American Arbitration Association panel member and a Delaware Superior Court Certified Mediator. She has acted as both mediator and arbitrator, giving her additional perspective on how construction disputes are evaluated and resolved. She is also the author of the Delaware chapter of the Fifty State Construction Lien and Bond Law treatise and has been recognized by Delaware Today as a Top Lawyer in Construction Law since 2016.
Vicky is deeply involved in Delaware’s construction and infrastructure community. She serves on the Governor’s Delaware Water Infrastructure Advisory Council and has held leadership roles with organizations including the Delaware Contractors Association and The Committee of 100. She is also active with the Associated Builders and Contractors Delaware Chapter and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Delaware. A frequent lecturer, she speaks on construction contracts, Department of Labor developments, mechanic’s lien strategy, project documentation, and practical approaches to preventing and resolving construction claims.
