Shaun Willis is a Co-Founder and Director of Willis Law and an experienced litigator whose practice includes construction, real estate, and business disputes. For more than 20 years, he has represented clients in litigation and dispute resolution, with construction litigation forming an established part of his broader practice. He advises and represents clients when disputes arise from construction projects and draws on his related real estate and commercial litigation experience to address the contractual, property, and business issues that can accompany construction matters.
Shaun handles construction disputes through litigation as well as alternative dispute resolution. He is well versed in mediation and arbitration and has handled several hundred matters that have been favorably resolved through those processes across his broader litigation practice. His experience allows him to evaluate disputes with an eye toward practical resolution while remaining prepared to pursue matters through the courts when necessary.
Alongside construction litigation, Shaun maintains substantial practices in real estate and business litigation. This broader experience is particularly relevant where construction disputes intersect with property rights, commercial agreements, ownership interests, or other business concerns. He regularly shares his experience with other professionals through seminars on construction law, real estate law, and business litigation and has published multiple articles addressing these areas.
Shaun has received significant professional recognition for his litigation practice. He has been repeatedly selected to Super Lawyers in Business, Real Estate, and Construction Litigation and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate Litigation. He has also been named among the National Trial Lawyers Association’s Top 100 Trial Lawyers and is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Earlier in his career, he was selected by Michigan Lawyers Weekly as one of six Michigan attorneys recognized as an “Up and Coming Lawyer.”
Before co-founding Willis Law with his brother Michael, Shaun operated the Law Office of Shaun Patrick Willis and worked with the Kalamazoo County Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and Howard & Howard Attorneys, PC. He earned his J.D. from Thomas Cooley Law School and a B.S. in Aviation Flight Science from Western Michigan University. Shaun is admitted to practice in Michigan, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is also active in the Kalamazoo community and has held leadership and board positions with numerous civic and charitable organizations.

Its lawyers also counsel clients on delay and acceleration claims, differing site conditions, Builder’s Trust Fund matters, jobsite and labor issues, and other challenges arising during project performance.
When disputes cannot be avoided, Willis Law represents clients in negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, litigation, and trial. Drawing on broader capabilities in real estate, environmental law, corporate transactions, and finance, the firm provides integrated counsel on complex construction matters from project planning and contracting through completion and dispute resolution.
