Geoff Palachuk is a Partner in DLA Piper’s Seattle office with a national construction practice encompassing project development, contracting, risk management, and dispute resolution. He advises owners, developers, contractors, and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-development and procurement through construction, commissioning, claims, and disputes. His experience spans major construction, infrastructure, energy, and real estate projects across the United States and internationally.

Geoff has substantial experience drafting and negotiating construction and real estate development agreements, including AIA and Design-Build Institute of America forms as well as complex bespoke contracts. He advises on a range of project delivery methods, including design-bid-build, design-build, general contractor/construction manager, integrated project delivery, and public-private partnerships. His work also includes counseling clients on contractual entitlement, claims resolution, and strategies for allocating and mitigating project risk.

His project experience is extensive, encompassing major infrastructure, stadiums, convention centers, semiconductor facilities, data centers, offices, industrial facilities, hospitals, mixed-use developments, hotels, universities, schools, water and wastewater facilities, highways, rail systems, and airports.

Alongside his transactional and advisory practice, Geoff represents public and private clients in complex construction disputes involving delays, extra work, nonconforming work, disruption, differing site conditions, and insurance claims. He frequently helps stakeholders pursue resolution through commercial negotiation and mediation but also represents clients before state and federal tribunals when necessary. His experience includes multiweek arbitrations, bench trials, and jury trials involving multibillion-dollar projects and claims exceeding nine figures, as well as managing construction risk and disputes for major companies in the United States, Asia, Europe, and Australasia.

Geoff earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he participated in the Journal of College and University Law and Moot Court, and received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Oregon. Before joining DLA Piper, he was a partner in the Construction practice of an AmLaw 50 international law firm.
